MITOR Study

Minimally Invasive Therapy versus Open Radical hysterectomy

The MITOR Study Primary Objective, to compare disease-free survival of patients with early-stage cervical cancer undergoing total laparoscopic radical hysterectomy (TLRH) versus total abdominal radical hysterectomy (TARH)

Criteria for Surgeon and Hospital

      Surgeon Eligibility

Open surgery group

- Qualified and board-certified gynecologic oncologists

- Performed at least 50 cases of total abdominal radical hysterectomy and surgical staging for cervical cancer using the standard procedure

Laparoscopy group:

- Qualified and board-certified endoscopic oncologists by the APAGE Accreditation Committee

- Performed at least 50 cases of endoscopic radical hysterectomy and surgical staging for cervical cancer using the standard procedure

- The surgeon should be serving in an APAGE-accredited center.

     Participating Center

The participating center must be a tertiary institution where both total laparoscopic radical hysterectomy (TLRH) and total abdominal radical hysterectomy (TARH) are performed.

- 50 cases of TLRH for cervical cancer per year, OR

- History of performing more than 200 cases of TLRH in this center, OR

- Published data on the excellent performance of the oncologic endoscopy center and qualified by the APAGE Accreditation Committee of this trial

A log of procedures will be submitted
